Warning: spoilers from Shadowbringers and Dawntrail are present in this post. Don't read if you care about not being spoiled!

I think I'm going to make a habit of answering wolqotds from bluesky (with way more space for me to go ham), so let's begin with a wolqotd from Juni, a mutual of mine! I'll be writing the answers to this wolqotd from the perspective of my main WoLs, Nix and Jacke.

Nix

Nix is very stubborn about upholding the idea that everyone deserves a second chance, no matter how "irredeemable" they might be. He always believed strongly that there is good in everyone, even the worst of humanity. People have called him naïve for it, and it's gotten him into more trouble than it's worth especially in a city like Ul'dah, but he clings on to that idea regardless.

(Spoilers for Shadowbringers begin here)

This makes Shadowbringers especially harrowing for him when he finally confronts an entity that was beyond his compassion - Eulmore. Vauthry, in every way, is cruelty and excess personified. Its citizens that live up top live their lives on the backs of the poor and downtrod. Ul'dah, despite its greed, was forgivable, because there are people there who still do good for others. In his mind, Eulmore and its citizens were beyond the measure of his reach.

On a much lighter note, Nix is convinced Archon loaf is made by someone who's never had a single life-changing meal in their life, and he low-key made it his mission to change its recipe to be both nutritious and delicious out of spite.

Jacke

Jacke is, by nature, stubborn about near everything. If it doesn't fit into his worldview or aligns with his principles, there's a significant chance he'll oppose it. If he strongly believes in something, he'll fight you over it. As a result Jacke comes off as rather intense and rigid, though he's been trying to be a little more lenient.

This kind of worldview is the result of millennia of living with humankind, under different lives and different names. He's seen mankind at their best and have also seen them at their worst. At the core of it all, Jacke - and by extension, all of his past lives - strongly believe that sometimes you have to be the villain if it means your actions will bring more good than harm in the long run.

(spoilers for Dawntrail begin here)

Destroying Origenics put Jacke in a position of "infamy" in Alexandria — the Alexandrians are scared of him at best, despised him at worst — rumours ranging from Jacke being a psychopath to deliberately manipulating Wuk Lamat for his own gains were rampant, but in the end that action led into convincing Alexandria into moving away from using resonators. It was extreme, to both Alexandria and Tuliyollal — but for Jacke it was necessary and he wouldn't budge from it.

This decision didn't come lightly, of course - in addition to him originating from an Ancient who had been particularly sensitive towards the sacredness of souls and the cycle of life, a past life of his was also, in a way, partly responsible for the creation of current Alexandria and its eventual obsession of eternal life. His actions in a way serve to both preserve the sanctity of that cycle, and in a way atone for a past mistake left to fester in his absence. (His Alexandrian life is a story for another time.)

(Spoilers for Dawntrail end here)

Jacke, hilariously enough, very strongly believes that Plus is the worst rule in Triple Triad. He can play with that rule in effect, sure, but he's absolutely going to complain about it the entire time.

Hopefully these wolqotd answers give you some insight on what my WoLs are like! What does your OC believe in that they're incredibly stubborn about and won't budge for anything over it?
