For many purposes I don't consider myself a very serious person to begin with. So in the spirit of this in mind, this page will also not be very serious.
Whether you discovered me through the Discover feed, visited via link backs from my social media or discord - welcome! My name is Elio, and I'm from Malaysia! I started playing FFXIV during the height of the pandemic like maybe millions of others; I actually bought the complete version of this game that included Shadowbringers back in May 2020, because I was very annoyed that I couldn't play as an Au Ra in the free trial. Little did I know they were going to make that (and the full Heavensward experience) free to play a few months later in September, in which I started playing seriously on another account for the new free trial except as a catgirl named Nana Derringer (Hyperion, now inactive).
ARR had me hooked. By the time I was back home, I bought a game time card and a story skip to HW on my main account (Nix O'cuinn, Hyperion, still stuck in 7.1) and I haven't looked back since.
I have an embarrassing amount of characters at present, enough to fill an alliance raid run if it was possible, and I tend to rotate them depending on how much I want to invest in writing and developing them — currently, my active character is Cassius Fleuret/Halicarnassus, but I can also be found as:
- Jacke Bennett/Luna Bennett (Sargatanas, Aether)
- Nix O'cuinn (Hyperion, Primal)
- Tsukishiro Takegane/Nabau Ganymede (Halicarnassus, Dynamis)
- Very occasionally Ciro Amicitia (Malboro, Crystal) or Vivienne Evrardoux (Hyperion, Primal), Rymmoen Eynmoensyn (Halicarnassus, Dynamis) and...maybe a whole other host of others, oops. Fantasia is expensive.
I'm also very normal about Au Ra. It doesn't matter if they're masc or fem models, but if you've known me long enough you probably already know how normal I am about masc Au Ra in particular.
When I'm not playing this game, I'm mostly doing art, reading and being a foodie in general. I like leveling in dungeons (dungeon leveling is honest to god my cocomelon of sorts in this game) and I'm mostly a solo player, but I do join in-game events (roleplay or not) and help friends with various content when needed.
About the blog name
In Malaysian storytelling and folklore of old, especially Malay-language tales, it's very common to find titles beginning with "Hikayat" ('chronicles' is a direct translation in English). I decided to use this to name my blog Hikayat WoL Elio, because while fully translating it to "Hikayat si Kesatria Cahaya" would be sick as hell, unfortunately the global internet is run on English (maybe that would change if I'm very Melayu about it in the future).
